Code of Ethics

As a psychotherapist, I am committed to providing you with a confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, reflect, and pursue personal growth and development at your own pace. My primary goal is to offer a safe environment where you can address the issues or concerns that brought you to therapy.

1. Commitment to Ethical Practice

I adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct, as required by the professional bodies to which I belong. I am committed to continuous learning and development to ensure that my practice remains informed, effective, and in line with current ethical guidelines.

2. Confidentiality and Privacy

Your confidentiality is paramount. We will discuss and agree on how your privacy will be protected both during and after your therapy sessions. This includes clear communication on how your personal data will be used and stored. Our work together is governed by a written contract that outlines our mutual expectations and agreements.

3. Respect and Non-Judgment

You will be treated with the utmost respect, regardless of your sex, age, race, disability, gender identity, communication skills, sexuality, lifestyle, religious, cultural or political beliefs, socio-economic status, or immigration status. My role is to support you without judgment, ensuring you feel valued and understood.

4. Autonomy and Empowerment

I respect your autonomy and encourage you to make decisions that align with your values. While I will guide and support you through the therapeutic process, I will not impose my views or tell you what to do. Instead, my aim is to empower you to make informed choices that lead to positive change.

5. Therapeutic Relationship

The foundation of effective psychotherapy lies in a strong therapeutic relationship. Each relationship is unique, tailored to your individual needs, and built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. Together, we will explore your experiences, relationships, and emotions using techniques such as free association, creative activities, or dream analysis. This process may evoke intense feelings, but I am here to support you in navigating and processing these emotions.

6. Safety and Safeguarding

Your safety is essential to the therapeutic process. I am DBS checked and bound by safeguarding duties. You can trust that I will always act in your best interests, ensuring that the therapeutic environment is secure and conducive to your healing and growth.

7. Transparency

During our initial consultation, we will discuss and agree on all aspects of your therapy, including fees, the likely length of therapy, methods of practice, and terms and conditions. This transparency is vital to building trust and ensuring that you have a clear understanding of what to expect.

By adhering to this Code of Ethics, I strive to create a therapeutic space where you can feel safe, respected, and empowered as you work towards your personal goals and well-being.
