Family therapy
What is Family therapy?
Family therapy is about family relationships. It works from the premise that a problem within the family lies with all its members, rather than with just a single person. Our focus is on how family members interact both in and outside of the therapy session. I support the family to consider their relationships and how they interact with each other.
When is family therapy recommended?
Families can benefit from therapy when they experience any stressful event that may strain family relationships, such as:
-
Financial hardship -
Divorce -
The death of a loved one
In addition, it can be effective in treating mental health concerns that impact the family as a whole, such as:
-
Depression -
Substance misuse -
Chronic illness -
Food or eating disorders
It can also be a potent tool when working on everyday concerns such as:
-
Communication problems -
Interpersonal conflict -
Problems in children and adolescents
